Hi Steven.
Many years ago I started to try rechargable batteries but soon swapped back to Durracel.
I find that it is more convenient and guaranteed to just open another pack than to worry about chargers and when did I last re-charge them etc, etc.
Obviously my cameras are rechargable but I think virtually everything else is AA or AAA.
I am sure about taking my rubbish to the nearest bin or home.
Hope this helps.

Cheers, i find that duracels last for a bit then the speed of the flash goes down and i tend just to swap them and re use the batteries in the house as they still have life left. :-)

Sorry Steve.
I have omitted to say that if I am out on a wildlife shoot where the recycle time of the flash needs to be kept to an absolute minimum, I use a Canon external power pack which is brilliant for maintaining the recycle times to a high level.

Hi Steven

I have a 580 MkII.

I use Sanyo Eneloop rechargeable batteries and find they suit me very well. I don't use the flash every day by any means so although these batteries are only rated 1900 - 2000 mah the good thing about them is that they don't lose their charge. So once fully charged they retain the charge for ages which is much more copnvenient for me.

I would highly recommend them.

I wonder when we will get rechargeable AA Lion batteries.
