Thank you for the reply re the Gitzo Tripod - would you consider this tripod good enough for a 600mm F4 lens, weighing in at 15lbs + Wimberly MkII head? Have you any thoughts re the 1548 for this setup?

Welcome to the forum. I have just taken up photography again on a more regular "hobby" basis over the last 2-3 years. Mainly during lunch breaks at work!! Did get to go on Safari this year though, and some of the results are posted here. Would be interested in your comments as your work is something I would like to be able to emulate!!
