New Lense to add to the collection Canon 17-40mm L

Well after getting some advice from a professional photographer I have took the plunge and ordered a Canon 17-40mm L series lens. I have always wanted a wide angel lens and after a bit of reading and seeing this seems to get good reviews for the price. I like the fact the lens takes the same diameter filters as my Canon 100-400mm lens that I have, so can swap polariser filters without spending more money.

Will let you's know how i get on, my first task once it arrives is to go out and take the same photo i took with my sigma 24-70 lens in the woods.

Sigma 24-70

Canon 14-70mm due soon

Well i am afraid the weather has been that good the mini waterfall is now flowing like it did, however i did not waste the day i took two photos showing the difference a polarizer can do.

Its a GIF image so just load the page then wait for the image to change. I thought that the polarizer would be just for bringing the clowds back into to the picture but i was wrong they have a lot of uses.

The canon lens shows better detail than the sigma. The polariser allows you to see more of what is going on below the surface of the water by removing the reflections. You will find it useful when taking pictures through glass or highly reflective surfaces to reduce the glare from the sun....

Cheers David, will have a bit of fun playing with the polariser, using it while taking photos of my house which will soon be on the market.
