Seen My Frist Dragonfly This Year

As i managed to escape my computer ball and chain on Sunday we went for a family drive heading west. I see a nice spot to stop beside a river and took the oppertuninty to get a couple of photos and nearly got smacked in the face by this dragonfly. I was just putting my camera away in my bag, i was using my Sigma lens but then when this went by me i quickly followed it and swapped for my macro lens and managed to get a couple of shots.

Im going to be totally honest i cant remember the last time i seen a dragonfly.

A Ruddy Darter Dragonfly

I would love to live where i took this photo its stunning. They must get a lot of wildlife. I met another photographer and started speaking to him, as we walked down the track a large bird either a heron or a bird of prey took off through trees.

Here is the spot with the river running by, and the image below is just behind the trees on the left.
