Rose Question.

hi
last summer i had a clipping of a rose off my nan, it looked dead healthy so i took it and planted it straight away. its doing really good at the moment however there are no buds or blossons. all my other roses are either blooming or putting on buds. it keeps growing and growing but no bud although the leaves are very small.
is this normal? i am doing something wrong? any help would be great. thanks. =]
