Do you use a tripod or handheld?

I have never really been one for tripods always just carrying my camera but since i have started to use a hide im prefering to use a tripod more and more.

I used to rely a lot on the IS on the Canon lenses when hand shooting and it was fine but you still get more stable camera when using the tripod.

My only issue is my tripod is a cheapo and you get a bit restricted with movement so thats somthing im going to look at investing in.

Just wondering how many of you's tend to use a tripod over handheld

I'm thinking of getting a Monopod, to try to deal with camera shake that seems to effect a lot of my shot's. I,ve have some good sharp shot,s in good light, but as the light comes down the shutter speed slows. I have a tripod but it can be a bit awkward sometimes.

Yeah thats what i find, i dont really want to turn the ISO settings higher as you loose the quality and trying to use slower shutter speeds when you really want to be higher. I did think of a monopod as it would be much quicker to get into position. I was thining somthing like
could be handy for macro still shots.

I do more wildlife filming than photography. I use a Canon XL2. It's a fantastic camera but quite big so tripod is essential for most shots. I use a manfrotto 503 head and 525 legs....great piece of kit. Works really well in my hide too.

Well after being out in the countryside on Sunday i am making my next purchase as i know i could of got better photos if it was not for the tripod being very shaky even in light winds.

Just need to figure out what tripod would be best for me.

I would always use a tripod if possible, and a remote on the shutter.I often use a monopod as well if walking about with a large lens fitted, this makes for a more comfortable shoot.
