Flash lighting studio equipment

Do any of you lot use flash lighting studio equipment? I have two continuous lights which are ok for small object but they simply do not give off enough light and don’t give you enough control to use on larger subjects and people.

At present i use the two lights to either light up the subject if small objects or for larger to light up the background and try and use my flashgun as a fill light but not getting great results.

After a lot of looking about and reading online for advice, I think a flash setup is the way forward.

I have been looking at this setup

Bowens Gemini 500/500/500R Three Head Kit

Bowens Gemini 500/500/500R Three Head Kit (BW-4850UK) - Warehouse Express

I don’t think you can ever have enough lights, even I could use the two continues lights as backdrop lights it gives much more scope for playing around with the light.

Anyone use similar?

I bought the Proline Studio kit. I have the more powerful lights. Two softboxes, umbrella, stands, light modifiers/shapers and a wireless trigger. It doesn't get many outings but it does the job when I need it. Very reasonabley priced as you get quite a lot for your money.

The first job I did with them was a studio shoot for a friend who wanted some promo shots for his jazz duo. Did the job a treat.

I also used the light shapers when I did a shot for the cover of his demo album.

Thanks for your input, just wondering how much better they will be over continues lights, the heat generated from just two lights is enough to warm the small room i have at present.

I will be using the equipment for small not macro but small product photography and then some larger subjects and no doubt at some point my son, would love to get more photos of him with the large white backdrop.
