How long does it take to make a tripod?

I ordered a Gitzo Systematic Tripod back in July after visiting the shop to look at models in the Gitzo range. I first heard there was a delivery delay due to the fact the Gitzo factory closed for the whole of August (Holidays) During September I had a delivery date of 22nd. That date came and went. Delivery due first week of Oct - but no joy. Due last week but still no sign of a delivery date, let alone a delivery. Now into November so will be asking the question yet again - WHERE IS IT?

What are the shop saying? Are they going to give you a tripd bag FOC for the delay? Have they taken the payment for the tripod?

Hi Steven,

No money changed hands. Would try elsewhere but this shop is quite close and I thought at least I could see it before I buy!
The padded bag for the tripod is about £90 so no chance of a freebie there... Will see if I can get something off the price though as compensation for the wait...

Gitzo Tripod

Well, well, at last, the fabled item has arrived in the shop!
However, the roads around Dursley, where Clifton Cameras live, are quite bad due to the snow and ice, so I can't get to pick it up yet

Still, everything comes to he who waits - Jul to Jan...........................

Yeah the roads up here have been really bad, our car has not moved since just about christmas, wide low profile tyres = useless in the snow.

At last I have it - the LONG Awaited Gitzo 5531S. Just a bit chunky - but not too heavy and appears as steady as a rock! Of course it is dark now so will have to wait and go out to try it properly. Well at least the weather held off long enough for me to do the 80 miles round trip to collect it. I had a battery grip and a Manfrotto clamp on order also - so picked them up at the same time.
