First dry day for a while here in Ullapool so i decided to go out and give this ND filter a try. I packed my 5D MKII into the bag with the 17-40 L fitted + ND and Polarizer. I took my bike as its my only form of transport just now as Nanette is away to Glasgow in the car.
It is getting pretty chilly up here already but i stuck on my extreme trousers and t-shirt, thin jumper and light jacket and off i went. I normally wear all my protective gear but there would be no way i would get down and back to the rocks with it on.
First thing I noticed with the ND filter, heck its hard to focus

with bright light all around it was a case of put my jacket over my head to keep the light off so I could try and focus.
The waves were not really coming in that fast enough (note to self check the tides before going out may help). I found myself kneeing down on the rocks and slowly getting closer and closer to the sea coming in. Waterproof trousers come in very handy for this and i would have been soaking if i had jeans on. After a few shots i sat back up on the rocks and had lunch, the joys of living so close to the sea, nothing like relaxing and watching time go by.
I took some photos not 100% happy with my results but the ND filter does allow you to increase the length of the exposure just perhaps not enough for the speed of the waves coming in.
You can see some of the photos in the landscape section called Rhue Coast, im just getting ready to go back out, not 100% sure where.
This is perhaps the one am more happy with, the position of the sun means that there is no light on the rocks on the left.
