Canon EOS 7D Looks Good For Wildlife Photoraphy

Just been reading up on the new Canon EOS 7D which looks like its going to appeal to a lot of wildlife photographers. Looks like its going to be between the 50D and 7D for a lot of Canon users. 8 frames per second does sound pretty good.

Features

  • 18MP APS-C CMOS sensor
  • 8fps shooting
  • ISO range up to 12800
  • 100% Viewfinder
  • 19 cross-type AF points
  • iFCL metering system
  • Dual "DIGIC 4"
  • Full HD movie
  • Integrated Speedlite Transmitter
  • 3” Clear View II LCD
  • Magnesium alloy body with environmental protection

I wont be tempted to upgrade as i have the 5D Mark II in my sights in a year or so.

Just recieved my 7D,took a few shots, processed them in dpp, used the software from 40D,bad mistake, the software isnt good enough,so installed the disk supplied with 7D,bingo. When i have some more will post them,on first instincts very pleased, smooth, the focusing is rapid and viewfinder, nice and clear.

Got my 7D about 2 weeks ago. The manual has been my constant companion!!
Very pleased indeed with it. The focussing system is so much more sophisticated and quickly and easily customized. The only problem is that whereas with the 4OD or the 450D I could survive with 1 4 gig card if I forgot to pack others, the 7D will fill a 4 gig card in no time.

Haven't used the video facility much yet as I'm not really that interested but It may well prove useful when I'm birding to catch little snippets of flight, behaviour etc for interest or identification.
