Pentax digital SLR cameras

Does anyone have any experience of Pentax DSLR's?

I'm currently using a Fujifil FinePix S9600 digital camera with a non-removable 28-300 lens for getting to grips with digital photography.

In my camera bag is my 35mm film camera, a Chinon CE4 which I have had since 1981 and it is still going strong although not used very much at present.

To go with the CE4 I have a number or lenses, bellows etc which are all Pentax-K mount.

I was thinking about getting a Pentax DSLR body so that I could use my exisiting lenses to start with and was wondering if anyone on the forum had any comments.

Cheers, Dave

Dave ive personally not used a Pentax camera and do not know anyone that uses them so i cannot give you much advice. However if the lenses you currently have would with the body that you are looking at it makes logical sense.

There is however another option, you could sell the equipment you currently have and start over. There are a lot of variables, how happy you are with your currently equipment, what your budget is, how much you think you would get for your current equipment and what you plan for the future.

I hope you get find someone with Pentax experience, i have only really used Canon and had a play with Nikon.

Hi Steven

I have taken the plunge, there were a number of refrubished ones going for sale on e-bay over the weekend and I managed to secure one, so it should be dispatched today and hopefully here by about Thursday or maybe tomorrow if it is as quick as the hide delivery.

I won't have full capability with it as all my lenses are from the good old film days but at least it will allow me to experiment with all my existing kit from bellows for close up to 300mm lens plus 2x convertor.

I'll let you know how things go and hopefully post some of the results as well.

Cheers Dave

I've had an email to say the camera has been despatched and I should get it today. I think it is more likely to be tomorrow.

As long as it is here for the weekend :-)

Not sure about Orkney but the weather here for the weekend is just depressing. The temp has dropped again and was very stormy last night.

Pressures dropping here too and the winds are forecast to reach gale force later today.

The weekend forecast isn't brilliant but I'm keeping my eye on the longer range forecast as I'm due to travel South the following weekend and the forecast is currnetly talking about a return to wintry conditions with the possibility of blizzards on high ground due to the strong winds.

Just what I need for traveling down the A9
