Hi Steven ..

I think you'll find this is a Cormorant ( Phalacrocorax carbo) .. the white patch under the "chin" being the give-away" .. (Shags lack this) .. If the bird was on land, it would probably also display a white patch at the top of the "thigh" .. especially in the breeding season ..

I'll give you a couple of clues .. It's a "Red" List (endangered) Bird & was Digiscoped in Lincolnshire at extreme range to avoid unnecessary disturbance ...
