New Garden Bird

Not sure exactly what type of Thrush this is possible:

Song Thrush
Mistle Thrush

Not seen this in Isobels garden before and neither has she. This thrush was swooping into the garde chasing the birds off then going back up the hill and doing the same again. It was not eating at any of the feeders that i could see but just chasing everything.

Isobels garden was full of birds today.

Robin
Dunnock
Chaffinch Male
Great Tit
Blue Tit
Starling
Thrush
Starling

Thrush

That would be a Song Thrush... The mistle thrush is larger and slightly darker in colour. This link may help

The RSPB: Song thrush

Yeah i thought at first song thrush then i seen it says on RSPB its only a summer visitor to my neck of the woods so assumed mistle thrush, that and the fact it was chasing everything out the garden.

If i read the map again its a resident all year round DOH.

danica is on a distinguished road
Hmm would definately think you'd need a tree or medium shrub of some sorts, pref a nice hawthorn, pyrocantha, cotoneaster or rowan; this would give them something to fly towards and take shelter in. Plants are usually the key as they provide shelter and insect nosh in time as long as you don't use any chemicals to kill off the aphids etc. Water is also really important either in the form of a birdbath or pond, the latter would serve as an insect lure again providing extra food for the birds. It's a great joy to plant up a garden and use it to be part of the environment, good luck

Danica Isobels house is located beside the Ullapool hill walk which provides all the shelter the birds need, the birds enter the garden for the main reason of food.
