Hi Kev

Some good results there with your digi scope, do you know roughly what distance you were away from the birds when taking them? Ive just picked up my new camera and been at Edinburgh Zoo this weekend so will post some photos when i get back, hope some are ok, was a bit of a change with the 5D.

Re: Digiscoped Birds

Hi Steven,

Hope you had a nice weekend in Edinburgh ..

Most of the pics were taken from about 300 yards ...

The Black-headed Gull (in summer plumage) was a bit further away .. about 500 yds ..

The Kestrel was taken a lot closer .. about 50 yards if I recall correctly, she was very confiding by allowing me to walk ever so slowly towards her but started showing signs of agitation .. so I stopped at that point ... once she felt secure again, she was happy to sit there & "pose" for me .. ;)
That was a "lucky" opportunity actually .. we'd been Birding at North Cave Wetlands in E.Yorkshire (on the N.bank of the Humber) and were returning to the car .. when we spotted her sitting in a tree next to the car park ..

The pics I posted of the Juvenile Woodlark were taken at extreme range .. almost a 1/4 of a mile (and it shows) ...

The only editing I've done is to crop the photos to eliminate unwanted background ..

Bye for now ..

Kev ..
