Hi Steven .. I'd agree that the relative ease with which someone can purchase a BoP in this Country is scandalous ..

I do hope that the info being given at the Centre you visited was intended to put people off .. rather than encouraging them .. keeping a BoP is not for the inexperienced & only ever results in damage or death to the Bird .. Most Centres do their level best to discourage the public from this course of action .. stressing the training, time, costs & personal sacrifice etc of being an owner ..

Sadly, wanting to own a BoP without undergoing thorough training etc tends to be the same kind of mentality prevalent in those who want to own Pit Bull Terriers & the like .. an overt demonstration of how "hard" they are (or how they would like to be perceived) ... :fubar:
