Hi kez and welcome to the forum, im not from down your way but a i spoke to a couple of work colleagues who advised me you should have a look at. http://www.thefalconrycentre.co.uk/ at Hagley in the West Midlands

Falcons, Hawks, Owls, Vultures and Eagles! We are a small, friendly team of dedicated falconers who have a passion for Birds of Prey. Our experience with birds of prey extends back over 21 years, so you can be assured of our knowledge and experience.

They have fair amount of birds, http://www.thefalconrycentre.co.uk/birds-prey.php

If you are ever up in Scotland we get a lot of Red Kites at the Black Isle just north of Inverness.

danica is on a distinguished road
Birds of prey have been protected by law in this country since the introduction of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981. The birds and their nests are protected, and anyone harming a bird or nest can be prosecuted.
As raptors are towards the top of the food chain, if their populations are healthy it implies other trophic levels of the food chain are plentiful. When there are problems in the environment it will show in the raptor popualtions. For example with DDT in the 1950s and 60s which was sprayed onto crops to keep down the numbers of insects. Pigeons ate the grain and then Peregrine Falcons ate the pigeons. The toxins built up in the falcons and had major effects on the fertility- the eggs were not formed properly- outer shell was thin and therefore broke very easily.
